Boscobel opened as a nonprofit museum sixty years ago. Built between 1804 and 1808, it was originally the dream house of wealthy Loyalists. By the 1950s, after falling into disrepair, it was demolished. Preservationists saved as many architectural fragments as possible and reassembled them fifteen miles north, where the Neoclassical mansion was restored back to—and even beyond—its original grandeur. Boscobel was saved as a beautiful piece of art. Now an esteemed Historic House Museum containing one of the finest collections of decorative arts from the Federal period, Boscobel offers admission to 68 acres of our grounds, featuring lush gardens and a woodland trail. Located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Boscobel directly overlooks Constitution Marsh toward the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, showcasing dramatic views of the Hudson River.

We are located on a former estate; the aesthetic of the property blends 1920s refinement with 1790s pastoral, boasting views of woodlands, lakes, rolling pastures and vistas extending towards Bear Mountain. Structures on the property include an 18th century farmhouse, a 150-year old classic red barn, an elegant estate home built in the 1920s, a boathouse and various cabins. You can use our historic venues for rehearsal dinners, birthdays, family gatherings and more. With 19 rooms available for overnight accommodation, you and your guests will enjoy a stay on a working farm while knowing that you are supporting an agricultural nonprofit with a mission that cultivates environmental resiliency and regional prosperity. WEDDINGS The focal point of your event is an elegant fieldstone house set amidst the landscape of a true working regenerative farm. The soft lowing of cows on distant hills can be heard as your guests dine on local fare coordinated through our favorite chefs and caterers. An ancient apple orchard gently slopes away from your table and pastures rise in the distance. Vegetables grow a stone's throw away. Your carefully crafted menu celebrates and works in harmony with the abundance around you. Established in 1898, Mahopac Golf and Beach Club carries more than 125 years of tradition on its 200-acre property in Putnam County, New York. The club sits alongside Lake Mahopac, with an 18-hole championship course designed by Devereux Emmet — the same architect behind Garden City Golf Club and Congressional Country Club — as its centerpiece. For private events and celebrations, the Ballroom accommodates 40 to 120 guests and features French doors that open onto the Terrace, which overlooks the signature 9th hole. The Executive Chef develops custom menus to serve gatherings of up to 150 guests, from intimate dinners to seated weddings.
