The Wheeler House is a historic wedding venue set on a restored 1906 property in Ball Ground, Georgia. The original home — built by a local lumber yard owner using heart pine flooring and wraparound porches — was purchased and fully renovated before reopening as a wedding venue in 2011. A climate-controlled barn was added in 2012, its exterior clad in reclaimed lumber salvaged from the old Panama City pier and airport runway, giving the space a distinctly storied character. The venue accommodates events from intimate micro-weddings to celebrations of up to 300 guests. The 3,600-square-foot barn serves as the primary ceremony or reception space, while a draped outdoor arbor hung with chandeliers and string lights offers an open-air ceremony option. The historic house provides a bridal suite with an original claw-foot tub, a groom's suite, and a billiards room. Onsite cottage accommodations are available for overnight guests. All-inclusive packages are offered, covering catering, an in-house DJ, bar service, linens, seating, and a dedicated wedding coordinator — making The Wheeler House a full-service destination in the North Georgia foothills.

Designed by Philip Trammel Shutze in 1928 for Edward and Emily Inman, Swan House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This Atlanta landmark is versatile enough to host a dinner party or act as a pre-function space for the Grand Overlook ballroom. Consider adding a costumed interpreter that will perform historical character narratives. Edward Inman was heir to a large cotton brokerage fortune amassed after the Civil War. He was an Atlanta businessman with interests in real estate, transportation, and banking. His wife Emily was involved in philanthropy, politics, and society. In 1924, they hired the architectural firm of Hentz, Reid, and Adler to design a house for their property in Buckhead, a residential suburb of Atlanta. Noted architect Philip Trammel Shutze designed Swan House and its gardens, as well as many other important buildings in the city. He adapted Italian and English classical styles to accommodate 20th-century living for Swan House, which many consider his finest residential work. Emily lived in Swan House until her passing at age 84 in 1965. In 1966, the Atlanta Historical Society purchased the home and most of its original furnishings, ranging from 18th-century antiques to 20th-century objects. It opened to the public in 1967 as a house museum and headquarters of the Atlanta Historical Society. Formal gardens surround and showcase the 1928 historic mansion. Reminiscent of great Italian gardens, it is perched on a hill with a cascading fountain, terraced lawns, roses tumbling over stone walls, and clipped hedges. An intimate boxwood garden and formal motor court complete the landscape, making this one of Atlanta’s best-known and photographed sites. The lawns can accommodate 50 to 750 guests. Because Swan House is a historic house museum, parties and receptions are not allowed inside the mansion, but your guests can tour the mansion for a few hours during your event.

The proceeds will be used to support the visual arts community in Atlanta. With sliding glass doors that open onto a terrace on the top level, the Katydid Room is a bright and airy space. The Swan Room, located on the second level, is a cozy and well-liked space. Sally's Porch is a private room on the upper level with a wonderful view of the grounds. It is accessible only via stairs. The surrounding outside patio and garden are accessible from both sides of this magnificent space, which is encircled by French doors on two sides. King + Duke, a chef-owned restaurant from Atlanta’s Ford Fry, offers a seasonal dining experience in the heart of Buckhead. A 24-foot open hearth is the restaurant’s centerpiece, and our passion for cooking over wood comes through in every dish. Named after characters in Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, King + Duke nods to classic literature and American traditions. The locally sourced dishes harken back to the way food used to be prepared: cooking over fire is a primitive technique that lets the ingredients speak for themselves. Parties of up to 14 people can be accommodated in the private Drawing Room, which can be hired with a preset or open menu. This totally enclosed area is located on the upper floor and has historic oil paintings, plush chairs, a built-in library, and a flat-screen television that is accessible for use if desired.
