The original stone structure was built in the 1780s by carpenter Watson Fell, whose family farmed the land for nearly 240 years; in the 1930s, former Trenton Times editor James Kerney transformed the property into a private estate, adding the ornate English gardens that still shape its grounds today. The Luccaro family has owned HollyHedge since 1994. Couples and corporate groups can choose from indoor and outdoor ceremony options across the property, including the courtyard and the Historic Stone Barn for cocktail hour, and a modern event space for formal receptions. HollyHedge's in-house planning team and catering staff handle every wedding on site, preparing seasonal menus with local farmers and distributors, and a liquor license allows the estate to offer bar service as part of its wedding packages. The gardens were built in 1931 by George F. and Stella Elkins Tyler as the formal landscape setting for their estate, Indian Council Rock, and draw their design from French and Italian garden traditions.
