Built in the 1890’s, this Brooklyn landmark played a huge role in the American Industrial Revolution. Once a rope factory producing twine and oakum for the shipyards along the East River, it was also the birthplace of the famous wartime ship, the USS Monitor. The Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse boasts the original brick and wood of the era and the building facade remains untouched from the 1890s. This raw and versatile landmark was recently restored with close attention paid to the details of the past and is now prime for your future event. The Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum sits on 44 acres in East Knoxville that were home to the Howell family nurseries for nearly 220 years. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the grounds preserve 16 historic structures, two miles of stone walls and walking trails, a level one arboretum, and 18 display gardens of local, ornamental, and exotic flora — a landscape shaped by the Howells, who introduced pink dogwoods to the region and installed the iconic stonework still found throughout the property. For weddings and private events, the Garden offers a range of indoor and outdoor spaces set among this historic scenery. The Dogwood Center, an American Architecture Award-winning building with floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooks the Dogwood Trail and Rita Johnson Garden and is the Garden's most sought-after reception space. The century-old Carriage House offers a more intimate, rustic setting with an attached flagstone patio and vine-covered pergola. Outdoors, couples can exchange vows at the Stone Terraces, the ivy-draped Stone Greenhouse, the Martha Ashe Garden, or LeConte Meadow, a 16,000-square-foot lawn with views of the Great Smoky Mountains suited to open-air ceremonies and tented receptions. It is situated on nearly 300 acres of fields and rolling hills, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. This location, which is not far from Sugarloaf Mountain, serves as a retreat as well as a magical backdrop for couples who want to exchange vows before the mountain. It is a unique and memorable location for wedding celebrations. Comus Farm has a long and illustrious history, which adds to the allure of the location. The farm, originally used as a dairy farm, was in the same family for generations until 2019. The farmhouse was built in the late 1800's, rebuilt in 1921. It has been renovated to provide modern conveniences while also preserving the historical integrity of the structure. During the growing season, farm animals and lush vegetation can be found on the property, as well as in the surrounding area. Overall, the location has a postcard-worthy quality to it as a result of this. It is now owned by Iago and Lauren, who are excited about the prospect of hosting other people at their farm for special occasions.
