Meadows Place Community Center & Pool sits at the corner of Dorrance and Amblewood in Meadows Place, Texas, operated by the city's Parks & Recreation Department. Recently renovated, the Community Center is available for private rental and accommodates up to 165 guests for parties, meetings, and family gatherings, with sixteen 6-foot tables, 65 chairs, a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, and access to a garden area and patio included with every booking. Facility cleaning is included after each event. Beyond the Community Center building, the property includes a swimming pool available for private rental in the evening or during public swim hours, with lifeguards on duty, and the adjacent Discovery & Nature Center offers a back patio and outdoor play yard for birthday parties, with animal encounters featuring a tortoise, goats, and other resident animals. Pavilions, a BBQ pit, and kayaks are also available to reserve throughout the city's parks for smaller gatherings.

Mama La is the secret ingredient in each of our Kim Son Restaurants, and she can be found in every location. Kim Su Tran La was born in Vietnam, and she, her husband, and their seven children fled to Houston in 1980, fleeing the communist regime that had taken over their country at the time. Mother-in-law Mama La was able to memorize more than 250 recipes before opening the first KIM SON Restaurant, thanks to her extensive knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine, which she received from her in-laws. In a short period of time, her food amassed a large following of thousands of followers, as well as the admiration and loyalty of many of Vietnam's top restaurant cities. The first KIM SON store was located in Vinh Long, but it was eventually closed as a result of the communist takeover of the country in 1975. KIM SON has been recognized by a number of prestigious publications, including Bon Appétit, Esquire, and Food & Wine, and has been named "Best Vietnamese Restaurant" in Houston on an annual basis by the Houston Press.
