The Normandale Japanese Garden is a 2-acre strolling garden on the campus of Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota. Designed by Tokyo-based architect Takao Watanabe and built between 1972 and 1976 through a community effort led by the Bloomington Affiliated Garden Clubs, the garden features an entry gate and garden wall, a waterfall, two shelters, three islands, three lanterns, four bridges, and a hexagonal Bentendo structure. More than 300 Minnesota-hardy plants were selected to survive the region's winters, and the garden follows traditional Japanese design principles with restrained use of flowering plants and an emphasis on green tones and texture. Open from spring through fall, sunrise to sunset, the garden serves as a backdrop for wedding ceremonies and photography. Commercial photographers conducting paid sessions are required to obtain a photo permit. The garden operates as a public space throughout the season and does not accept private reservations.

The University Club of Saint Paul has occupied its Summit Avenue clubhouse since 1913, when architects Reed and Stem — the firm behind Grand Central Station and the Saint Paul Hotel — designed the building in the tradition of London's great turn-of-the-century city clubs. The Germanic-American Institute Haus occupies a four-story historic mansion on Saint Paul's Summit Avenue — one of the city's most celebrated historic corridors — and stands on the National Register of Historic Places. The building serves as the home of a nonprofit German-American cultural organization, and is available on a limited basis for private events. Three spaces can be rented individually or combined. The main floor accommodates up to 70 guests across its large and small dining rooms and buffet room. The Ratskeller, a German pub-style lower-level space with three seating areas and a full bar, hosts up to 100. The third-floor Ballroom also seats up to 100.
