The property occupies the site of the original Hopland High School, a building that served the community from 1922 to 1963 before the Brutocao family restored it in 1998 with a focus on historical preservation. Today it operates as the event home of Brutocao Family Vineyards, a four-generation winemaking operation that has farmed Mendocino County land since 1943. The estate offers four distinct event venues spanning indoor and outdoor settings. The Bliss Room is the primary indoor space, accommodating up to 200 seated guests for receptions, corporate events, and private celebrations, and features a built-in bar, catering kitchen, and dedicated dance floor. The historic Schoolhouse Plaza Indoor Venues include the Lions Den and Restaurant and Bar, suited to smaller gatherings of 30 to 80 guests. The Inn has 6 bedrooms and 7 queen size beds, so it can comfortably accommodate a group of 12 guests in total. Each of the Inn's bedrooms is individually decorated, and special care has been taken to create a comfortable and homey atmosphere throughout the establishment. It is a great place for gatherings, vacationing, and spending time with family and friends because it has spacious common areas throughout the house, in addition to the 6 bedrooms. The devil is in the details. Ample kitchen space equipped with all of the essentials for cooking, including an oven/stove, microwave, dishes and silverware, a refrigerator, and a dishwasher. There is a large dining room area. Wifi is available throughout the Inn at high speeds using fiber optic cables. a comfortable and inviting gathering space with couches and chairs for lounging and reading, a game table, a piano for sing-a-longs, and a gas fireplace In addition, there is a large screen smart TV. Founded by Italian immigrants Santi and Virginia Catelli in 1936 and reopened by the fourth generation of the family in 2010, the restaurant carries nearly ninety years of culinary tradition into its event programming. Three distinct event spaces accommodate gatherings from intimate rehearsal dinners to outdoor wedding celebrations of up to 150 guests. The Patio features a circular marble floor surrounded by mature Ascolano olive trees and a white marble bar, and hosts events seasonally from June through October. The Garden offers a 650-square-foot pebble gathering area framed by lush landscaping for smaller outdoor events in the warmer months. The Fireside Room brings warmth indoors with wide-plank wood floors and a wood-burning fireplace, seating up to 50 guests year-round.
