Pickering Barn is a city-owned event venue in Issaquah, Washington, built around a barn that once stood on the property of territorial governor William Pickering in the 1800s and has served the community for more than 110 years. The 12,000-square-foot facility is organized into two connected banquet rooms, the Hay Barn and the Dairy Barn, which can be booked together for up to 350 guests or reserved individually for smaller events, along with an outdoor courtyard suited to ceremonies. Planners booking Pickering Barn have access to two dedicated dressing rooms, the Jersey Room and the Holstein Room, each outfitted with mirrors and clothing racks, plus the Creamery, a catering prep space with commercial refrigeration and sinks. An on-site venue attendant supports facility access, setup, cleanup, and security throughout the rental period, and the barns include AV equipment and wireless internet. Darrington Community Center has served as the gathering place for this remote Washington town since 1954, when it was built with donated time, skill, and materials from residents of the Darrington area. Owned by the Town of Darrington and managed by a volunteer Board of Trustees, the center houses a gymnasium, a meeting room, and a full kitchen, and hosts weddings, bridal and baby showers, family reunions, potlucks, tribal meetings, and memorial gatherings alongside the community's regular sporting events. Generations of volunteers have kept the building in service, from new gym flooring and updated electrical and HVAC systems to a modern projection system. In 2017, the Board restored the center's exterior to its original color using footage from the 1980 film "High Ice," which had documented the building's early appearance. The center also serves as a designated Red Cross emergency shelter for the surrounding community.

The Cedar River Watershed Education Center sits above the shores of Rattlesnake Lake in the Cascade foothills, on the historic site of the old Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway's Cedar Falls camp. Operated by Seattle Public Utilities, the Center serves as a gateway to the Cedar River Municipal Watershed, the source of drinking water for 70 percent of the 1.6 million people in the greater Seattle area. The Center is made up of five buildings connected by covered walkways topped with living roofs, designed by Seattle architects Jones & Jones with sustainable materials throughout — 98 percent of the wood used meets LEED standards for sustainable harvest, and the outdoor decking and benches are built from Smart Deck, a composite of recycled plastic and wood. In the Forest Court, native plantings tie the buildings into the surrounding forest, and a series of water drums — commissioned from artist Dan Corson through Seattle's 1% for Art program — release a rhythm of water droplets via a computerized irrigation system, audible from dawn to dusk. Inside, free hands-on exhibits trace the region's water cycle, forests, and wildlife for visitors of all ages, with groups of ten or more asked to reserve ahead.
