The Arbors Events is a farm and woodland event destination set on a 112-acre tree farm in Cleveland, North Carolina. What began as a tree nursery in 2003 evolved into an event venue shaped by thousands of ornamental and shade trees, manicured lawns, majestic oaks, and perennial gardens spread across western Rowan County, near Lake Norman. The venue's primary event space, The Arbors, is a custom-built banquet facility constructed from stone, reclaimed barn wood, and cedar shakes. Its 4,700-square-foot heated and cooled interior centers on a grand fireplace and includes a full bar and catering prep area, while the adjacent outdoor spaces feature a wildflower field ceremony area, two fire pits, and a three-acre pond. A separate reception facility, The Lodge, adds 4,200 square feet of climate-controlled banquet space with a similar rustic character. The quarry's natural features — granite cliffs rising 70 feet above crystal-blue water, a cascading waterfall, a white sand beach, and a lush green lawn — form the ceremony and reception backdrop. Boxwood Lodge was highlighted for its statewide significance in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and social history when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. The 51 acre estate was divided into 9 smaller portions in 2001 so they could be sold one at a time at auction. The present owners bought Boxwood Lodge and its 51 acres at the auction in order to preserve the land and maintain all tracts and buildings under a single ownership. They wanted to bring back the splendor of Boxwood Estate and preserve both its heritage and its hidden gem for future generations. Since 2002, the manor, cabin, carriage house, and grounds have all undergone extensive renovations that adhere to "standards for rehabilitation and is consistent with the historic character of the property or district in which it is located." The National Park Service of the United States Department of Interior has designated Boxwood, a building that is officially recognized as being historic, as a "certified rehabilitation."
