Mountain Home Inn is a historic 10-room boutique hotel and event venue perched on the Mt. Tamalpais ridgeline in Mill Valley, California — just 20 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Built in 1912 by Swiss-German founders who surveyed the mountain to find its most scenic vantage point, the inn sits 900 feet above the village of Mill Valley with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco Bay, and the canopy of Muir Woods below. It is the only commercial property permitted on Mt. Tamalpais, a distinction that reflects both its historic status and enduring connection to this iconic landscape. The venue's three common event spaces — a sun-drenched terrace, a dining room, and a cozy lounge — welcome private celebrations of up to 75 guests, along with two dedicated private rooms: the Mountain View Room, featuring vistas of the surrounding Mt. Tam peaks, and the intimate Bay View Room. The venue is well suited to weddings, private parties, and corporate meetings and retreats. Full beverage service is available on-site, with professional bartenders and a full bar featuring beer and wine. External caterers are welcome, and the venue's proximity to outdoor ceremony sites — including Muir Woods, Muir Beach, Stinson Beach, and the Muir Beach Overlook — makes it a natural base for celebrations that spill beyond its walls.
