    For more than 140 years, Basin Harbor has been shaped by five generations of the Beach family, beginning in 1882 when Ardelia Beach opened her farmhouse on the shores of Lake Champlain to visitors seeking an escape from the city. What began as a working farm grew, under Allen Penfield Beach, into a full resort with cottages, a golf course, a dance hall, and an airfield — additions that still define the property today. Set on the Vermont shoreline with views across Lake Champlain to the Adirondack Mountains, Basin Harbor now offers dining at Ardelia's restaurant, an 18-hole golf course, a boat club, and lakeside recreation alongside more than a dozen indoor and outdoor event spaces.
