Founded in 1926, The J Detroit is a community center dedicated to the physical, social, spiritual, and educational well-being of the Jewish and broader southeastern Michigan community. Its multi-acre West Bloomfield campus includes wooded grounds, walking trails, and an outdoor swimming pool, and the organization welcomes guests of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. For private events, The J offers several distinct rental venues. The Berman Center for the Performing Arts is a 600-seat state-of-the-art theater opened in 2011—suited to corporate meetings, receptions, film shoots, fundraisers, and concerts, and staffed by on-site technical professionals. Handleman Hall is a 6,000-square-foot banquet facility with an adjacent kosher catering kitchen, designed for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and banquets. Planterra Conservatory is a glass-enclosed botanical event venue in West Bloomfield, Michigan, built around a structure imported from Izegem, Belgium, with European trusses and soaring glass ceilings. Since opening in 2010 — built on a history stretching back to 1973, when Planterra Interior Landscaping began from a private greenhouse on the former Sanders estate in Bloomfield Hills — the conservatory has become one of Michigan's most recognized celebration spaces, named one of the "Best Venues in America" by Brides Magazine and one of the "22 Best Garden and Wedding Venues in the World" by Harper's Bazaar. Inside, guests move through an environment of vertical gardens, tranquil koi ponds, and curated botanical collections from around the world. The conservatory was designed with sustainable principles at its core: recycled irrigation water, passive solar heating, earth-integrated construction for energy efficiency, and natural ventilation managed by an on-site weather station. VISION The vision for The Norwood was to restore the glory of being a place for entertainment and celebration of life’s best moments - Originally a Theatre from 1915 to 1949, The Norwood is now Detroit’s newest Industrial Event Venue & Downstairs Bar Lounge (Intermission) with 7,000 square ft and 3 floors. HISTORY In 1915, the architectural firm William S. Jay & Co. designed & opened The Norwood Theatre. It was then demolished in the summer of 1941 to allow for road widening. A new Norwood Theatre was built on the site designed in an Art Deco style, but eventually closed in 1949….

The Ford Avenue Piquette Plant was built in 1904 by the fledgling Ford Motor Company. It was here that Henry Ford would produce several car models- including his most famous automobile- the Model T. Once outside the plant's walls, the Model T started a revolution that would put the world on wheels. OUR ORGANIZATION The Model-T Automotive Heritage Complex, Inc., (doing business as) the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, was organized in 2000 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization for the purpose of preserving the Plant and keeping it from being demolished. Open year round as a Museum and education center, the plant now attracts visitors from around the world. It provides special programs and events for bus tours, families, and scores of people attending public and private events from car shows to weddings. The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant (FPAP) is managed by a Board of Trustees and volunteer committees. The historic site is financially self-supported. It is not affiliated with Ford Motor Company or Ford Foundation.
