Imagine hosting your event amidst The Historical Society of Pennsylvania's treasure trove of documents, while guests have the opportunity to inspect historic materials selected specifically for your event. The Historical Society of Pennsylvania is known as Philadelphia’s Library of American History and is home to over 21 million documents. Located in Center City Philadelphia, this venue is a treasure chest hidden in plain sight. Events at HSP can be transformed into a personalized experience for your guests no matter what subject. HSP docents can pull historic documents from their enormous collection and display a curated selection of treasures specifically tailored to your event. Guests will have the opportunity to inspect documents and learn about the history of the specific topic related to your event or organization. The Reading Room provides a unique stately setting, with bookshelves lining the walls surrounding curated displays. Dinner may also be served in The Reading Room, and its historic aesthetic welcomes corporate functions. Upstairs, the newly renovated Patterson Room can host up to 160 guests for seated dinners. The Historic Powel House and Garden is available for intimate weddings, private dinners, and corporate events. Rates given include up to four hours of event time, however you can purchase additional hours. The 2nd floor ballroom may be used for seated luncheons or dinners of no more than 40 people. We can accommodate up to 75 guests for indoor standing cocktail-style receptions. Outdoor Ceremonies & Receptions max out at 100 guests. Venue rental does not include tenting fees, which are required for all outdoor parties over 40 guests.
