This three-story sun-drenched corner building offers a multitude of experiences for each season and time of day. In the warmer months, guests bask in the sidewalk cafe or the open-air kitchen which extends the outdoors throughout the ground floor. In the cooler months, wood-burning ovens in each dining space, provide warmth and social gathering places. With a variety of unique event options, Sunday In Brooklyn is available for large party bookings and full restaurant buyouts. Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum is housed in philanthropist and steel magnate Andrew Carnegie’s former mansion. Built at the turn of the century, its fin de siècle interiors feature ornate coffered oak ceilings, carved boiserie paneling, custom-made wallcoverings, and a conservatory with Palladian bronze and glass doors. A top-to-bottom interior and exterior renovation sensitively restored the grandeur of the mansion’s exquisite craftsmanship and injected contemporary architectural features to transform one of New York’s grandest residences into a dynamic, dramatic setting for gatherings of all sizes. This space is perfect for receptions, fundraisers, school assemblies, classes and seminars. The Gray Room has sliding glass walls adding flexibility and opportunity to the space. This room has access to the kitchen, as well as use of the adjacent gallery, ideal for classes, meetings, art shows, parties, and more. The Chapel boasts with beauty from the stained-glass windows and stenciled walls. This space is ideal for intimate concerts and performances, readings, and small meeting’s – pairs well with Darlington Hall adjacent to the kitchen, for a lunch or buffet gathering.
