Rippon Lodge is a Prince William County historic site built circa 1747 for Richard Blackburn, making it one of the oldest surviving homes in the county. Set on 43 acres above the Potomac River, the property includes formal gardens, walking trails, and the Blackburn and Atkinson family cemetery, with a history that spans colonial tobacco production, Revolutionary War-era politics, and a family connection to George Washington's nephew by marriage. The home was updated in a Colonial Revival style beginning in 1923 and remained with descendants of its original builder until Prince William County acquired it in 2000. For events, Rippon Lodge offers grounds rental with vast lawns and outdoor gardens overlooking the Potomac River, suited to weddings and receptions of up to 150 to 200 guests under large reception tents. Music is permitted, and couples may bring in a caterer of their choice, with wine, beer, and champagne allowed under proper permits. Guided tours of the historic home can be arranged for guests on the day of an event with advance notice.

The interior, designed by Hapstak Demetrios, provides a warm, modern feel with 15-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and inviting booth seating. The wood-burning oven is a central component to the open-concept kitchen, nestled under a sweeping hull-like wood panel, and accented with vibrant red tiles. The private dining room features a ‘hidden’ screen for presentations, a built-in wine rack, and flexible seating arrangements. Original art features Ada, her father, the poet Lord Byron, and other figures such as Jane Austen, Mary Shelley, and Emily and Charlotte Bronte. For a buyout, the restaurant can host 150 guests for a standing cocktail reception, with 125 seated indoors at dining tables, bar stools, and high tops, including a private 30-seat dining room, plus their outdoor patio, which seats 100.
