Updated in 2005 by renowned architect Keith Summerour, the building was previously the home to Preston Rose Printing, and had been in various uses since the 1920s. The roof over the 8000 square foot main space is supported by massive bow trusses, which allow the wide, open floor plan to be free of columns or supports. Revealed through a wall of windows that runs the entire length of the space is a breathtaking skyline view of Atlantic Station and Midtown. In 2007, Barb Shadomy purchased Stonehurst after discovering it while in England studying interior and garden design. For 17 months, Barb and her team of architects and contractors, specialists in historic and eco-friendly systems, renovated and restored the home and its gardens. The house meets standards set by the US National Park Service, the GA State Historic Preservation Office, Southface and EarthCraft House. It is a statewide landmark for both the quality and style of its architecture, which was built of Stone Mountain granite in the Romanesque Revival style. Rhodes Hall is available for a variety of events including wedding ceremonies and receptions, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, and holiday parties. Events at Rhodes Hall may utilize the front porch, the front lawn, and the first floor of the home.
