Beatnik On The River takes guests on a journey, drawing inspiration from the Beat Generation of 1950s and ’60s and the bohemian hipsters who followed in their path. At the Loop’s Beatnik On The River, the globetrotting dishes and cocktails, and boho-chic interior are further enhanced with breathtaking views of the South Branch of the Chicago River located next to it, adding to the transporting experience. Mirroring the restaurant’s design aesthetic, Chef Marcos Campos’s cuisine takes a worldly approach, harmoniously melding flavors and ingredients from Asia, Mexico, the Middle East, South America and beyond. Like the food, cocktails change seasonally and tap into the exotic with ingredients ranging from Ceylon cinnamon to Szechuan-chipotle honey. The sounds of Beatnik On The River follow suit, with influences arriving from all corners of the globe. Reggae, Afrobeat and Middle Eastern Classic Rock weave easily with Brazilian Soul and ’60s French Pop.

The restaurant aims to take guests on a voyage through the bucolic splendor of a Mediterranean farmhouse, the colorful opulence of Moorish architecture, and the tropical lushness of Bali with more than 400 living plants throughout the 6,000-square-foot, 174-seat space. In the process, Beatnik expands on the definition of what a Chicago restaurant should and could look like. Mirroring the restaurant’s design aesthetic, Chef Marcos Campos’s cuisine takes a worldly approach, harmoniously melding flavors and ingredients from Asia, Mexico, the Middle East and South America. Once dropped on the large tables paired with pillow-strewn wood daybeds, the mezze and “feast” plates from the open kitchen create an international dinner party vibe.

Located in the JW Marriott Chicago in the city’s bustling Loop financial district, The Florentine offers an elegant yet accessible interpretation of seasonal Italian cuisine. The Florentine offers private and semi-private dining space, which can be reserved for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Our versatile spaces provide the perfect venue for every occasion – business dinners, cocktail receptions, and post wedding brunches alike. Our large Private Dining Room can accommodate up to 60 guests for a seated dinner, and 90 for a reception. The space can be reserved as one large room, or two separate spaces for smaller events. The room features two 42” Plasma TVs, as well as access to our surround sound system, which can be connected to a personal iPhone. In our main dining area, semi-private spaces accommodating 12-50 guests can be reserved for an intimate dinner, or a larger cocktail reception. The Florentine Bar can also be reserved for cocktail receptions up to 130 guests.
