Miller Union is named after the former Miller Union Stockyards that occupied one full city block in Atlanta’s old meatpacking district in the 1880s. The stockyard building suffered a fire after the turn of the century and was later replaced with an industrial warehouse, typical of the time period. Miller Union, the restaurant, was founded in 2009 by Steven Satterfield and Neal McCarthy in the refurbished warehouse that sits on the former site and has since contributed to the evolution of the neighborhood. Owned and operated by Jason and Kristin Ashley, the venue brings an urban design eye to a rural mountain setting. A charming open chapel in the woods allows for a ceremony venue regardless of the weather. With a wide outdoor dance floor and stage for a DJ or band. The property has six family-friendly and wheelchair accessible restrooms. The venue can also accommodate the bridal party overnight. The Cottage, a smaller farmhouse with a full kitchen, is available for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready in on the wedding day. The Cottage can be leased the night before the wedding for an extra charge and sleeps four people. The Cave is a large place for the groom and his groomsmen with a big screen tv, billiard table, dart board, and wet bar. The Cave can be hired the night before the wedding for an additional charge and sleeps six people. Wedding guests can stay at the Honeymoon Treehouse. You can have your sendoff and be shuttled to our treehouse without leaving the property. This makes the morning transition to your honeymoon destination straightforward, without an extra stop. Celebrate any event in a beautiful, private environment in the heart of downtown Decatur. The big outside patio is ideal for both the ceremony and reception portions of a wedding. There are additional different dining rooms, banquet rooms, and a front parlor with fireplaces to choose from as well. In the historic Mary Gay House, you may plan the wedding of your dreams while learning about Atlanta's history. In the 1820s, the MARY GAY HOUSE was built in Decatur, Georgia, and it is now a historic landmark. Mary Ann Harris Gay, the home's most renowned resident, is commemorated in the house's name (1828-1918). The Southern novelist is most known for penning Life in Dixie During the War, a first-person account of the American Civil War that was published in 1865. Mary Gay recalls a series of daring activities, including her treks beyond Union lines to acquire food and clothes for women and children in war-torn Decatur, which she describes in her book. Several of the world's greatest authors have been influenced by Mary Gay's writings, including Margaret Mitchell, who used some of her poetry to construct settings in Gone With the Wind and Mark Twain, who used some of her poetry in Tom Sawyer.

Conyers and Covington, Georgia are just minutes away from The Mill at Yellow River, which is located off I-20. The ancient Mill, which is situated on the banks of the Yellow River, exudes charm and character that your guests will appreciate. A magnificent garden and a spacious outdoor patio are also available at The Mill at Yellow River. A 1,200 square foot bride's loft with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sitting area, a full kitchen, and a patio that overlooks the Yellow River is also available. We also have access to the Yellow River, which provides spectacular photo opportunity. The Yellow River roars as you go through the rocky terrain. The Lofts are at the entryway to rural Georgia, about thirty minutes from Atlanta and a few miles between Covington and Conyers. They display vintage materials and craftsmanship. Much of The Mill at Yellow River's construction still uses heartwood from mature southern yellow pines for support beams. These trees, sometimes known as longleaf pines, are now extremely rare and virtually always protected, making the production of beams like these nearly difficult. Original maple flooring may be found in several of the Mill's corridors and residences. These floors, which have now been thoroughly restored, have survived seven decades of intensive industrial use and 35 years of neglect.
