Bateau, french for “boat,” is both a nod to our first restaurant, Boat Street Café, as well as an attempt to reimagine the American steak house around quality, sustainability and animal welfare. With the name About Bateau, which comes from the French word for "boat," we're paying homage to our first restaurant, Boat Street Café, while also attempting to reimagine the American steakhouse in the context of quality, sustainability, and animal welfare. Traditional cattle breeds, renowned for their flavor, are the centerpiece of Bateau's whole animal menu. These cattle breeds are selected and owned by Bateau and cared for by Pure Country, a Food Alliance certified ranch located in Moses Lake, Washington. All of our cows are raised in a humane manner, fed only grass, and, most importantly, finished only on pasture. Bateau's beef is dry aged for a minimum of 21 days before being butchered on site by Scott Johnson, the butcher for the restaurant. This is certainly not the quickest, easiest, or most cost-effective method of preparing beef, but we believe it is the most effective. Along with Chef Taylor Thornhill's inventive dishes, which frequently include foraged and fermented ingredients, specialty cuts are sold by the pound or by the quantity of meat available. In addition to steakhouse classics done right, such as twice-fried frites and buttery mashed potatoes, the menu includes iconic cocktails and an extensive bottle list. The service is warm and welcoming while also being refined. Many of the fixtures and furniture pieces from Boat Street Café have been repurposed in the dining room as a nod to the former location. The rough slate tables, which are now decades old, as well as the 'Jeffry' chalk drawing by artist Curtis Steiner, will be familiar to visitors. The charming historic room, located on the second floor of Greenwood Square accommodates 180 guests for receptions or up to 160 for buffet style dinners. Greenwood Square defines not only the spirit of Greenwood, but Seattle as a whole. It's the combination of continual change and forward thinking that puts Greenwood Square as a classic place to remember. In all of the event sites in the Pacific Northwest rare indeed are the facilities that have the classic style of Greenwood Square. With stunning exterior Old World architecture coupled with 2000 square feet of freshly renovated space, Greenwood Square joins the classic with modern.

Dakota Place Park Building is a historic brick venue set within Dakota Place Park in West Seattle, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and activities along California Avenue. The building pairs original brick and wood floors with updated conveniences like projectors, a flat-screen TV, and surround sound, mixing vintage character with modern function. The venue's main room connects to a smaller side room and opens onto a large outdoor patio and small lawn, giving hosts room to spread a celebration between indoor and outdoor space. It accommodates up to 110 seated guests or 160 standing, making it suited to wedding receptions, community gatherings, and private parties. The space is available for rental from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., with facility tours offered on Friday mornings.

Featuring one of the best views in the city, this unusual park is neatly sandwiched into a steep residential area and makes ingenious use of a "difficult" space. From the sloping hillside you have a great view of downtown, Lake Union, the I-5 freeway and Capitol Hill. The park is furnished with benches, a bike rack and a drinking fountain in case you want to stay and gaze a while. It's a great place to watch the July 4th fireworks. From the upper part of the park, you can walk down the steep, ivied hill - passing azaleas, rhododendrons, and more surprise views - to a patch of grass with a play area for kids and a pergola for parents. The Olympic Rooftop Pavilion at Stoneburner, which is located along Ballard Avenue within the Hotel Ballard, offers an amazing urban paradise experience that is ideal for any private event or wedding reception.
