    Lonesome Rose

2101 N California Ave, Oak Park, IL 60647, USA

Lonesome Rose, a 'borderlands' idea concentrating on the rich cultural history of the regional states of northern Mexico and the southwestern United States, is the perfect private dining spot. Lonesome Rose is an accessible, imaginative take on the best of these border regions, opening early and staying open (very) late. With an open and airy area, wood elements, and a lot of plants for design, the vibe is reminiscent of southern California. While a border may separate two countries, their histories have long been linked, informing and influencing one another across generations. This is most visible in the drinking and eating habits of the regions, where products, recipes, and skills have been passed down down the generations, improving with each passing. We celebrate and explore this intriguing history with Lonesome Rose's carefully thought out dishes and beverages that focus on the flavors shared by these two places. Every day, we welcome you to join us for breakfast, lunch, supper, and drinks. Whether you’re walking in with a small group or joining us for a private dining experience, you’re bound to fall in love with Lonesome Rose. “A little taste of Austin in Chicago! $3 tacos with fresh tasty ingredients, including beloved breakfast tacos, yes please! Perfect salsa trio, a fresh guac and a fun choco taco dessert too. Top notch mixologist drinks as well. Clean cut open decor with plants and simple wood. I mean even the napkins are super cute. We hear there’s a summer roof deck in the works and can’t wait to go back next time we’re in town.” -Agnes S.

Since 2013, the Michelin-starred restaurant has been dedicated to providing the kind of attentive, customized service that makes regulars feel like family and newcomers feel at home. Chef Mary Attea heads a culinary team that draws on their diverse backgrounds, international travels, and personal preferences to create vibrant flavors and imaginative recipes that defy categorization. As a result, cuisine is transported in a pleasant, elegant atmosphere with a long bar, intimate nooks, and a big garden for al fresco dining. Mary Attea is the Executive Chef at The Musket Room in Manhattan's Nolita area, a Michelin-starred restaurant. In February 2020, Attea took over the head of The Musket Room, ushering in a tectonic shift in the restaurant's genre from New Zealand cuisine (which it had been known for since its establishment in 2013) to a more globally-inspired menu. When the pandemic struck the following month, she played a critical role in assisting the all-female ownership and management team in weathering the storm and maintaining their Michelin star. She draws on her extensive fine-dining experience as well as her family's culinary memories to create menus that defy categorization, deftly fusing Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Asian, and new American influences into dishes that are completely unique while remaining firmly rooted in their histories.

Haley — Mayor of Joliet, attorney, and civic leader — and designed by nationally recognized architect Frank Shaver Allen, who made spectacular use of locally quarried limestone. Gaelic insignias cut into the front porch honor the Haley family's Irish heritage. The three-story, 8,600-square-foot structure features a distinctive tower, original stained-glass windows, intricate hand-carved friezes, and quality wood finishes throughout. Today the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operates as a private event facility with 20,000 square feet of event space. The Grand Ballroom seats up to 350 guests and is appointed with crystal chandeliers, starry-sky accent lighting, billowing silk ceiling fabric, and a high-gloss tile floor suited for dancing. An adjacent conservatory with a light-flooded skylight and 12-foot French windows overlooks the manicured gardens, offering an intimate indoor ceremony setting. The grounds feature a white pergola nestled between two waterfalls and lily ponds, thousands of annuals and perennials, and towering pines — an outdoor ceremony setting that works in all seasons. The grounds surrounding the tower are open all year during regular Park District hours, and you are welcome to come out and listen to the carillon at any of the scheduled performances. Throughout the year, a Carillon Ambassador will assist the Carillon's operations and activities by communicating with visitors and giving presentations to groups visiting the Carillon. Carillon Ambassadors will receive special training for this chance. During the open season, tourists can take a guided trip up the 253 steps to the top of the tower and experience the breathtaking view, which includes the Chicago Skyline on a clear day. Those who are unable to ascend the steps should take the elevator to the Gallery Level Observation Deck and stay there. For special requests, call the Naperville Park District at (630) 848-5000. Moser Tower and Millennium Carillon began as a labor of love by a small group of Naperville families in 1998, and the vision quickly spread to many others, who generously donated funds to make the vision a reality. The Millennium Carillon, like Centennial Beach and the Riverwalk, is a gift from the people of our town for future generations to enjoy. The trek to the open-air Observation Deck, which is 14 floors higher and nearly 10 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty, is a physical and mental challenge for those who are afraid of heights. The payoff, however, is a one-of-a-kind view of the city, including the Riverwalk and Centennial Beach, as well as the Chicago skyline on clear days.

Glenwood Park is a 22-acre outdoor venue managed by the Macomb Park District, set within an oak-hickory forest with more than 150 years of natural history. Rolling hills, towering trees, and a pond create a woodland backdrop suited to gatherings that call for open air and green space over a traditional indoor setting. At the heart of the park stands the Glenwood Stone Shelter, a WPA-era structure built in 1938 that has hosted reunions, picnics, dances, and community celebrations for generations. The shelter accommodates up to 100 guests and sits at the center of the park's grounds. Additional outdoor areas, including an expansive lawn with room for a tent, offer flexibility for larger gatherings or ceremonies with sunset views over the pond. The park also features a volleyball court, disc golf course, playground, and picnic areas — amenities that make it a natural fit for casual celebrations that extend beyond the event itself. Outside catering and bring-your-own alcohol (served by a licensed bartender or caterer) are permitted.

    • Spaces for 26-80 Guests

Mia Francesca is an Italian trattoria in Chicago's Lake View neighborhood, where the concept was born in 1992 when chef Scott Harris opened the original location with a vision for bold, rustic cooking rooted in the cuisine of Rome and the surrounding regions of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. The restaurant was among the first in Chicago to offer a casually sophisticated trattoria atmosphere — simple, flavorful food served with genuine warmth at fair prices. The setting reflects that philosophy throughout: a convivial dining room that has long been a Lake View staple, alongside a collection of private and semi-private spaces suited to gatherings of different sizes. The Coach House, tucked behind the main restaurant, seats up to 30 guests in a more intimate setting. Upstairs, the Milan Ovest and Milan Est rooms can host parties of 50 and 26 respectively, with the option to combine them for larger groups. Events accommodate service in family-style, plated, or appetizer reception formats — well suited to rehearsal dinners, milestone celebrations, and corporate gatherings alike.
