  INCORPORATION Mrs. Anne C. Dulany and Mr. H. Rozier Dulany, Jr., the owners of the Buchanan Hall property at the time, made the decision to transfer the land and building to a nonprofit organization that would continue to play a vital part in the life of the town in the early 1930s. Towards this end, they and others came together on May 25, 1933, to form a 501(c)3 charity organization known simply as "Buchanan Hall" in memory of General Buchanan's construction of the facility and his gift of its use to the community. According to the founding documents, the Buchanan Hall nonprofit corporation would own and operate the building as Upperville's community center, noting that it was established "to hold meetings of a civic, patriotic, social, religious, educational, and charitable nature." The Buchanan Hall nonprofit corporation was established "to hold meetings of a civic, patriotic, social, religious, educational, and charitable nature," according to the founding documents. The initial trustees named to the board were Mrs. Anne C. Dulany, president; Mr. H. Rozier Dulany, Jr., secretary; and Mr. A. Cook Reid, trustee, all of whom were appointed on that date. Upon completion, an item titled "Upperville's Latest Community Project is Brought to a Close" ran in the Fauquier Times-Democrat on November 5, 1942, with the headline "Upperville's Latest Community Project is Brought to a Close." According to the report, "the building will be available for use by churches, humanitarian organizations, the Red Cross, and the Boy Scouts at no cost."   Set on 600 acres in Lexington, Virginia, the Virginia Horse Center is a world-class equestrian facility that also hosts private events, from wedding receptions to corporate gatherings and meetings. Established by the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1985 and now operated by the Virginia Horse Center Foundation, the campus includes nine show rings, eight schooling rings, eight barns, a cross-country course, campgrounds, and the 4,000-seat Anderson Coliseum surrounding the Waldron Arena. The Appomattox Mezzanine, the center's largest special event space, overlooks the Blue Ridge mountains and the Waldron Arena and can accommodate up to 400 guests for wedding receptions, corporate parties, and meetings, with the option to divide into smaller sections.   Busboys and Poets is a restaurant, bar, bookstore, and community gathering place founded in 2005 by artist, activist, and restaurateur Andy Shallal. The Shirlington location, in Arlington, Virginia, carries forward that mission as a space for art, culture, and politics to intentionally collide, hosting weekly open mic nights and other community programming alongside its full-service restaurant and bookstore. For private events, the location offers two dedicated spaces, the Robeson Room and Paul's Den, each equipped with a projection screen and sound system for readings, performances, meetings, and celebrations.
