“Love Piccolo, Love!” Gussie's is a project of passion inspired by co-owner David Thate's love of Italian cooking and serving friends and family. The inspiration of the restaurant comes from his grandmother Augusta “Gussie". For Thate, recounting the time being in the kitchen with grandma, helping her throw dinner parties for friends and family was always the best time. As Thate grew, he took what he learned not only from his own experiences with Grandma Gussie, but also his great aunts and his own travels to Italy. Gussie's Handmade Italian brings all those experiences together. The goal is to bring the joy of dining together to you by using the freshest ingredients and freshly made traditional Italian pastas. In a quaint corner of the property, adjacent to Dusek's Tavern, Tack Room is the former carriage house where Mr. Dusek once kept his horses. Large windows open to the outdoor patio in the warmer months and a well-loved piano compliments the space. Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba!, Chicago's first Spanish tapas restaurant, serves authentic Spanish cuisine in a warm, hip setting enhanced by lively music. Guests can dine inside or outside on the all-season patio while enjoying award-winning sangria, tapas (the famous small dishes of Spain), pintxos (one-bite appetizers from Northern Spain) and paella (a traditional Valencian rice dish). Offering savory and colorful combinations of vegetables, cheeses, meats and seafood, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! also features Flamenco Dinner Shows, cooking classes, wine tastings and catering for private parties of all sizes. At Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! we can accommodate groups of 10 to 300 in our private and semi-private rooms, serving a custom menu of tapas, paella and more. In September 2014 the 2 year restoration of Biggs Mansion was completed. With over $4 million dollars spent and absolutely no cost spared, real estate developer and current owner Fred Latsko converted the previously known IL Mulino restaurant into Chicago's finest cigcar show and private cigar lounge. Biggs Mansion also features an outdoor patio.

Rolf and Meagan Pedersen, who run the restaurant, draw inspiration from all over the world to make upgraded, non-traditional street food. The essence of our cuisine, which reflects a careful convergence of cultures, a celebration of Chicago's rich diversity, and a sense of approachable adventure, is the word "gadabout," which means a regular, pleasure-seeking global traveler. Through the use of robust flavors and local products, our food attempts to generate a sense of lighthearted nostalgia. The cocktail menu features small-batch spirits in vivid drinks, as well as a variety of vintage sodas. Our goal is to create a dynamic list of sustainable practices at our restaurant and in the community as a whole. To reduce our carbon footprint and give you the greatest and freshest products available, we acquire produce and proteins from local farms whenever possible.
