A Brief History of the Rose Chapel and Southside Preservation Hall The former Central Methodist Church, built in 1911 at 1519 Lipscomb St., was formerly the spiritual home of many notable Fort Worth families around the turn of the century. The building has been threatened with demolition multiple times since the congregation relocated in 1969. The Panther Boys Club, a civic organization, purchased the facility in 1972 and transformed the church facilities into a gymnasium, boxing ring, and adolescent dance area. The chapel was not in use at the time. The property was then spared from demolition by the Southside Preservation Association, which was founded in 1996 by a determined group of preservationists. The Association, which is run entirely by volunteers and is a non profit organization, works to repair the facility's buildings and grounds, winning multiple community honors in the process. The magnificent, restored Rose Chapel, named after the Flower of Love, is always booked. Located in the heart of Texas's Hill Country, A Thousand Cedars offers a unique forest setting brimming with majestic Cedar trees, big Oak trees, and a variety of other native Texas plants. Many clearly indicated paths lead to the location, providing convenient access for the Wedding Party and their guests. The natural scenery also provides fantastic photography options for the entire wedding party and their guests. A Colorado and Industrial motif has been included into the design of the venue itself, which features Cedar beams, black iron trusses, exposed brickwork, vaulted ceilings that reach 30 feet in height, and enormous glass windows on all sides that let the forest and natural light to fill the space. Our Bridal and Groom Suites, which are completely furnished, are accessible via a stairway near the entryway. Each Suite will be large enough to accommodate entire bridal parties as they prepare for the big day, and it will be equipped with its own shower, bath, vanities, mirrors, and windows to let in plenty of natural light. The ranch was purchased in 2014, and the owners first totally restored the white ranch home before building the three-story barn in 2015. The RoseMary Barn was then renovated from a dilapidated 1970s pole barn at the property's back to the lovely white venue it is today. The RoseMary Barn takes its name from the proprietor's mother. The RoseMary Barn is a stunning all-white event and wedding location located about 5 miles from Historic Downtown Mckinney and hotels. White shiplap is used to build the inside walls and ceilings. The venue features a large bridal suite with h/m stations, cable tv+mini fridge, a masculine grooms cabin with cable tv/hook ups for a gaming center+mini fridge, a large outdoor ceremony space shaded by mature trees, a large covered porch for cocktail hour, a bar kitchen for the bartenders, a large catering prep kitchen, and a 40x32 covered pavilion that can be used for a wedding reception. We have a generator in case of power shortages, and we are Uber-friendly, allowing cars to stay overnight if Uber service is required. For our booked wedding groups and/or families, we have on-site over night accommodations in addition to the venue. This two-story barndominium has a cool modern feel to it. It includes a white shiplap kitchen with open cabinetry, gold lights, and a beautiful modern farmhouse vibe. It features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two living areas. Bedroom #2 has a queen bed, bedroom #3 has two queen beds, and bedroom #4 has two queen beds. The master bedroom has a king bed with a private bath, bedroom #2 has a queen bed, bedroom #3 has two queen beds, and bedroom #4 has two queen beds. Imagining yourself making your way up an elegant path to an idyllic gazebo, where you will exchange vows in front of your closest friends and family members. The chapel, on the outskirts of Texas Women's University, is a hidden sanctuary that has hosted weddings since September 1939, a few months before Eleanor Roosevelt's dedication. The exquisite internal stain glass windows complement the natural splendor that surrounds the Little Chapel. On saw-pierced and riveted brass lighting, and woodwork completed in beech, hand carved woodwork on the pews, the Little Chapel in-the-Woods' rich symbolism delicately conveys "Woman Ministering to Human Needs." Architect O'Neil Ford designed the Chapel, which is 90 feet long and 24 feet broad. During the Great Depression, it was built as a project of the National Youth Administration and dedicated by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The Little Chapel in the Woods is steeped in history, and every piece in the chapel is imbued with the aesthetic fingerprint of young women artists. Brushy Creek Event Center sits on 53 acres in Farmersville, Texas, where it shares its land with ThrowAway Ponies, a horse rescue nonprofit. Founded in 2016 by Karen Bander and Jaclyn Bander, the venue hosts weddings, birthday parties, and corporate events in a rustic, country setting. The property's main barn spans 3,400 square feet, with a 30-by-60-foot main area that comfortably seats 110 guests for dinner, dancing, and a DJ setup, and holds up to 150 guests at max occupancy. The adjoining "Saloon" bar area opens onto both the outdoor patio and the indoor main space, with wine glasses available for rent, two mini fridges, and ample counter space. A groom's room and a full kitchen with two refrigerators, a dishwasher, and an oven round out the barn's amenities, with dishware and kitchenware also available for rent.
