The Space The restaurant’s expansive layout, designed by Thomas Schlesser, incorporates strong architectural lines and rustic décor, reflective of The Publican’s farmhouse cuisine. Its spacious interior is dominated by large walnut communal tables designed to recall 16th Century European banquets. Set up in racetrack fashion, the banquet tables seat upwards of 130 people with views of the partially open kitchen. This design lends itself as the perfect location for any Chicago wedding. The minimal use of walnut and brass provides the perfect accent to whatever colors, theme and floral you have imagined. The expansive room is built for joyous celebrations and unions of all races, religions, countries of origin, sexual orientations and genders. The Publican hosts private and semi-private events for social and corporate groups as small as 10 and as large as 175. The space is available for private lunches Monday through Friday. It is also available for full evening buyouts 7 nights a week and brunch buyouts on Saturday and Sunday. As one of the West Loop and Fulton Market’s most unique venues, we offer a change of pace from your usual private dining experience. The Chef’s Table can accommodate 24 guests down in our working kitchen for an unforgettable experience that places you and your closest friends and colleagues in front of all the action. (Imagine after saying your “I Do’s” you and your guests will walk across the street to be greeted by a sun-drenched foyer for cocktails.) Amazing Space includes a catering kitchen, distinctive bars, tables and chairs, restrooms on the first and second floors, an elevated lighting system, a sunny bridal suite, and a sophisticated A/V. The 6,000 sq. foot event space boasts soaring ceilings and architectural elements inspired by Old St. Pat’s. The Lytle House is a small, family-owned gathering room that may accommodate up to 80 people for a seated or cocktail event. We have a preferred vendor list that we highly suggest, as well as an approved caterer list from which you can choose. Our objective is to provide a one-of-a-kind setting for your celebration while also making the planning process as simple as possible. The Lytle House is available for weddings, private ceremonies, bridal showers, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, baby showers, professional events, photoshoots, workshops, and more. It has over 2800 square feet of free flowing indoor-outdoor space and features high ceilings, exposed brick, factory windows, and original industrial features. With the bulk of our ceremonies being collected, we offer restricted seating for ceremonies (reserved row for immediate relatives, etc.). Most wedding ceremonies last between 15-20 minutes, allowing for an intimate and relaxed semi circle to form around you while you exchange vows. The majority of ceremonies are held in the courtyard, in front of one of the ivy walls, in front of our enormous cityscape mural, or on our patio with the courtyard as a backdrop. In the event of bad weather, ceremonies are held inside, in front of our enormous glass garage door, with the courtyard as a backdrop. If your event has more than 30 attendees, you must select a caterer from our approved list. When we initially started hosting parties at our studio, we felt it would be a good idea to let customers choose whichever caterer they liked. It just took a few incidents for me to understand I'd made a mistake. All of the businesses on our approved list provide a pleasant experience. They've done a lot of work in our space. They are knowledgeable about our requirements and processes, but most importantly, they are fantastic. They wouldn't be on the list if they weren't fantastic. They'll answer your emails and do everything they can to make the planning process as simple as possible for you. They'll cook a delicious meal for you, and sure, you can bring your own wine.
