The Newberry collection—some 1.6 million books, 600,000 maps, and 5 million manuscript pages—is a portal to more than six centuries of human history, from the Middle Ages to the present. We connect researchers and visitors with our collection in the Newberry’s reading rooms, exhibition galleries, program spaces, classrooms, and online digital resources. Since its founding in 1887, the Newberry has remained dedicated to deepening our collective understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Holding your event at the Newberry will support our mission of inspiring research, teaching, and learning in the humanities. Nestled just steps from the Magnificent Mile, and across the street from the city’s oldest public park, Washington Square Park, the Newberry Library offers indoor event spaces with various capacities for intimate presentations, performances, formal ceremonies, fundraisers, galas, high-end corporate entertaining, all-day conferences, workshops and trainings, dramatic cocktail receptions, elegant dinner celebrations, and multimedia presentations. Rooms may be combined for greater capacity and for varying program components. The fully restored Lobby is a showstopper. Featuring a Romanesque entryway, distinctive chandeliers, 20-foot ceiling and broad marble staircase (great for photos and a grand entrance) it lends itself beautifully to cocktail receptions and dinner parties. Our largest event space, Ruggles Hall, can accommodate up to 160 guests in a warm and cozy library atmosphere created by its mahogany paneled walls and broad windows overlooking Washington Square Park. For more intimate gatherings, the newly created Rettinger Hall and Baskes Boardroom feature beautiful marble floors and specialty recessed lighting, and are lovely complements to the Newberry’s unique aesthetic.

Located in the Gold Coast, near the Clark/division red line. The building is a historic landmark known as the Fisher Studio Houses, and is a pre-WWII building. The space is Art Moderne style with Edgar Miller paintings on the windows. Space Details: - 1400 square feet - Seating Capacity = 16 - Access to Full Kitchen - Free Coffee - 2.5 Bathrooms - Speaker System - Fireplace Use - Washer/Dryer Use - Red Line is one block away - BYOB allowed - Outside food is allowed The property was built in 1936 and designed by Andrew Rebori. The space has quartz counter tops, and unique white glass subway tiles that offer modernism with antique undertones, plus a spiraled staircase. Features curved walls, with glass block windows. There's also an outdoor courtyard with seating. It is located a few blocks from North Ave beach and Oak Street beach plus the restaurants and shopping of the Gold Coast. There's also a Jewel Osco that's about a five minute walk away. In the mid-1930s, Frank J. Fisher, a Marshall Field’s executive, commissioned the architect Andrew Rebori to design a residential property that would also generate some income. Rebori recruited the muralist and craftsman Edgar Millerto help detail the spaces with stained glass and other finishes. This is an ideal space for small gatherings and professional events. Host your next Special Event at TAO Chicago in the most dramatic venue in River North. Corporate, Holiday, Birthdays, Bachelorette, and all other celebrations welcome. We can accommodate groups of all sizes from 10 to 1,700. Guests will enter the 7,000 square-foot TAO Chicago Nightclub and event space after passing through a 100-year-old, massive Chinese gate and down a lantern-lit exterior alley. There are two venues within this space separated by an operable wall that allows then to be combines from a two-room to one room venue. The rear club features 40-foot-tall ceilings, original soaring windows, a 20-foot tall Hush mural, a 10-foot tall custom-made Japanese prayer bell from which an oversized disco ball descends, and a series of restored arches from one end of the club to the other. The front club is more intimate and centers around a DJ booth enclosed with a metal cage adorned with mirrors and Asian-inspired filigree. Glowing and mirrored lotus pendants float above the dance floor while two bars service the space. The Fire Pitch is Chicago’s premier indoor/outdoor community soccer facility. Owned and operated by Chicago Fire FC, the Fire Pitch features a full-service restaurant and bar featuring a private events room and outdoor patio. These spaces can be reserved individually for groups as small as 10 guests or combined to accommodate up to 450 guests during the summer months. The Fire Pitch's event spaces have hosted everything from birthday parties and graduations to holiday celebrations, bar/bat mitzvahs and more. The Fire Pitch also features two full-size turf soccer fields that are open-air during the summer months and covered with a temperature-controlled dome in the winter. La Grande Boucherie brings the Parisian dining concept to Chicago’s River North neighborhood. The 10,120 square foot restaurant offers authentic French cuisine in a remarkable Art Nouveau interior. The two-story, 381- seat restaurant features 25-foot-tall stained-glass windows overlooking the bustling streets of Chicago, curved ceilings, custom mosaic floors, and a 100-year-old glass mural from Paris that survived the German bombardment in WWII. The magnum opus of the design is an 82-foot-long racetrack pewter bar imported from France and constructed with traditional legacy metalworking techniques reminiscent of old-world bars. La Grande Boucherie is a testament to the fusion of art and history, a space where historical legacy is seamlessly integrated into modern dining, making every visit not just a meal, but a journey into the century's old Paris establishment.
