The first collaboration between hospitality veterans Billy Lawless (Gage Hospitality Group), Ryan O’Donnell (Gemini) and Executive Chef Chris Thompson, Coda di Volpe (Italian translation of "tail of the fox") is named after the white grape variety that is indigenous to Italy's Campania region. Chef Thompson, a California transplant, brings his passion for the lesser-explored regions of Southern Italy to a dynamic menu comprised of seasonally-evolving handmade pasta dishes and house-cured meats. Using the restaurant's Stefano Ferrara wood-fire oven, Thompson crafts traditional VPN-certified Neapolitan pizzas served with authentic pizza shears to uphold the integrity and history of each pizza. Decadent desserts from Executive Pastry Chef Marjorie Easley complete Volpe's menu. Coda di Volpe's ambiance and versatile seating options make this Southport Corridor gem a perfect destination for intimate date nights, group gatherings, leisurely brunches, and everything in between. The Arbella, flagship of the Winthrop Fleet, sailed from England to Salem in 1630, and gave birth to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. During the voyage, the passengers and crew managed to consume the 10,000 gallons of wine that had been stowed on board as part of the ship’s provisions. In the spirit of the age of exploration, we strive to follow the ship’s occupants sense of adventure, leaving home to start something new and the search for freedom and choice to lead lives of individual distinction. We have taken this approach with our menu, giving you the opportunity to journey to many locales throughout the world of cocktails. avec, a Mediterranean and Midwestern influenced shared plates restaurant, opened in October 2003 out of a partnership between Executive Chef Paul Kahan, restaurateur Donnie Madia and wine steward Eduard Seitan. Chef Perry Hendrix's rustic menu, featuring Midwest ingredients from valued local purveyors, takes its cue from the sun-drenched wine regions of Southwestern Europe. Beyond reflecting the aromas, flavors and colors of the Mediterranean in its cuisine, avec's extensive wine list focuses on the region's boutique vineyards. avec's second floor private event space draws from the warm, intimate design of the main dining room, and evokes the feeling of a rustic mediterranean wine cave. With an open kitchen and private bar, the second floor can host private events for up to 40 seated guests or up to 60 guests for a standing reception. For smaller groups, the space can be divided into a small, private room for with seating for 12 guests, and a semi-private space with seating for up to 20 guests.
