Magnolia, a village in Gloucester, Massachusetts, is home to All Purpose Flowers, a small florist. For birthdays, sympathy, thank you, celebrations, and just because, we create everyday orders with fresh flowers. Our style is based on your preferences, and each arrangement is made specifically for you. Hello, my name is Linda, and I run All Purpose Flowers. My two children, Lily, who is six years old, and Stephen, who is three years old, accompany me to work at our shop. Our shop is set up perfectly for us, with three sections: a front area that serves as a gift shop, a middle part that serves as my workroom, and a back area that serves as a children's playroom. We adore our small shop and all of our patrons. My father and mother, as well as my husband when he gets home from work, assist with deliveries. We are a small, pleasant family-owned and operated business. I began my career in floriculture as a freshman at Essex Agricultural High School. I continued in the field after high school and got experience working in three different floral shops throughout the years. I am completely enamored with flowers, as well as all things artistic. I'd always planned to operate a flower store in Magnolia, but I didn't know when the opportunity would arise. While working a full-time office job, I started All Purpose Flowers out of my house in 2010 and focused on events only on weekends. I stopped taking flower gigs after having my daughter and focused solely on her and my steady career. When my employer downsized and lay off all of my coworkers, my husband and I made the difficult decision to downsize our house, and I became a stay-at-home mom. Then there was Stephen, our son. While being a stay-at-home parent, I began to rekindle my interest in being a florist. I began promoting All Purpose Flowers and accepting orders and events once more. Then, in 2018, I took over a small shop on Lexington Avenue in the neighborhood where I grew up. My aunt's alterations store used to be here, and I always imagined me taking it over when she retired. I consider myself extremely fortunate and grateful to be pursuing my aspirations. Every time we go to the store, we have a good time. COVID has been challenging, but we are grateful to all of our clients who share our love of flowers and help to keep us going.
