Hello, this is Aimee. I would never have predicted that I would become a wedding photographer if you had asked me in college. I'm a woman who wants to change the world for the better at my core. In order to pursue my graduate policy degree and launch a career in environmental policy, I relocated to Washington, DC in 2008. I executed both. But along the road, I came to comprehend storytelling's unique superpower: knowing something's core narrative and then using images and words to captivate audiences. It turns out that's quite useful for both photography AND public policy. I've always been creative, but my commitment to portrait photography only began when I grew tired of seeing people's shoddy professional headshots at my nonprofit job. (I realize this is glitzy.) Even ten years later, it seems like I've always carried a camera with me. Through my work, I have gained a devoted following of business and political clients as well as lifelong friendships with the couples whose weddings I have photographed and other photographers I have met along the way. I now can't fathom my life without photography as a creative outlet. It turns out that my lifelong love of spreadsheets and extensive knowledge of event planning are just as valuable in the world of wedding photography as they are in the world of policy. And whether I'm speaking out for better laws or taking portraits of individuals, I'm doing what I do best to contribute to a little bit bettering the world.
