Elise, the proprietor, has been employed in the music industry for more than a decade. Six of those years were spent working as a Tour Manager for rapper, artist, and producer Mac Miller, who is also a musician. During that time, she had the opportunity to travel the world and collaborate with some of the country's most talented artists. As a tour manager, she learned the importance of fostering a sense of belonging and community around "a good meal and a stiff drink" no matter where you are in the world. During the summer of 2016, Elise received a phone call from a production manager at the Lyric Theater in Baltimore, who requested her assistance in improving the backstage experience for their artist clients. They founded Ashling Market and Catering with their business partner Saeed, which was based on their "dream" and "vision." Soon after, they gained a reputation for providing excellent service, paying meticulous attention to detail, and serving food that was both diverse and familiar, sophisticated and approachable. Modern-day operations of the kitchen include catering to top entertainment artists performing in various venues across the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area.
