When Phil's dad was a little child growing up in Church Point, Louisiana, he was highly imaginative with his toys. His mother's empty wooden spools were used to create his favorite toys. The name "Fezzo" in Cajun French is used to describe these wooden spools. He constantly took these spool toys with him wherever he went. One day, the local postmaster started referring to him as Fezzo, a nickname he has used ever since. Fezzo's Supermarket was established by Phil's family in Rayne, Louisiana in July 1979. Twenty years and one month later, in July 1999, Phil and Pat launched their first restaurant. It was simple to choose the name when the time arrived. They gave it the name Fezzo's Seafood, Steakhouse and Oyster Bar in remembrance of Phil's father. No matter the distance, Fezzo's will cater any occasion, from the most casual to the most formal.
