Kaathis delivers quick and easy street food that you won't find in a typical curry house. In our freshly prepared, non-greasy, and budget-friendly meals, we capture the flavors of India. Vegan, gluten-free, and other allergy-friendly alternatives are available. The actual spirit of a civilization is frequently seen in its cuisine. This is especially true with Indian cuisine, especially when it comes to the rich, colorful flavors of its street food. But you don't have to travel to Kolkata to eat delicious Indian street food; we've brought it to Chicago for anyone to enjoy. Meats or vegetables marinated in exotic spices, roasted on skewers, and rolled in delicious flatbread known as paratha make up kaathi rolls. During British administration of India in the early twentieth century, Nizams, a modest but popular diner in Kolkata, invented the kaathi roll. Our founder, Aditya Burman, grew up eating these rolls in Kolkata. He always wanted to operate a kaathi roll restaurant once he migrated to the United States. His love of food derives from growing up in a household where his mother, Brinda Barman, was a fantastic cook who enjoyed entertaining frequently. Brinda's innovations include some of the recipes we use today. Our allergy focus stems from the personal experiences of Sandhya Nagubadi, another of our founders. Aditya and Sandhya have collaborated to develop their own dishes that cater to a variety of preferences and dietary limitations. For us, making these rolls is a labor of love, and sharing them with our customers is even better.
