About Masontown
The epicenter of the Colorado roots music industry has given birth to a fresh and alluring sound. Masontown, a youthful group with a notion as timeless as the Rocky Mountains, has descended into a bluegrass scene that has already given birth to some of the best acoustic musicians in the world. Colorado and the rest of the current music world haven't exactly heard this, though. a renowned violinist and fiddle champion. a seasoned mandolinist and writer of bluegrass music. A legendary jazz guitarist from Colorado has reemerged as a flatpicking phenomenon. a proficient and creative clawhammer and 5-string banjo player. a jazz and classically-trained upright bassist with strong origins. These are the several components that combine to form Masontown. American acoustic tradition is excitingly reinterpreted in Masontown's music. The trio combines the sounds of bluegrass, old-time, folk, and new acoustic music into a sonic melting pot that pays homage to our rich musical traditions while remaining unapologetically modern in conception. The result is music that is at once familiar and new. There are echoes of the Matt Flinner Trio's delicate investigation along with Bill Monroe's fiery drive and the pensive songwriting of Cahalen Morrison and Eli West. It's not surprising that Masontown members have performed on stages with many of these musical legends. Colorado's listening rooms and dance floors have already started to applaud the entry of this new power in the acoustic music scene. A band on the move, Masontown is determined to excite the ears, stir the souls, and stir the feet of countless generations of music fans in Colorado and beyond.
