I'm Amy Wurster, the founder of Poppy Belle Event & Floral Design. Just some background on my creative dream... Prior to floral design, I worked in a variety of fields, so my background is varied. I had a "corporate career" in software sales and marketing. Then i tried my hand at interior design by gutting, renovating, and selling two unique homes that both set records in their areas. I also had a custom jewelry business, specializing in wire jewelry design and creating. In 2004, I began my wedding career as a wedding planner under the name Knots 'n Such Event Planning & Design. I enjoyed managing the logistical side of events, but design was my passion and true love. It all began with a custom stationery design. But on the day of the event, I've always been obsessed with making every event beautiful and unique to the guests of honor. So in 2014, I took the risk and officially added floral design to my company. I wanted to focus on design full time because I enjoyed it so much. Thus, Poppy Belle was born in late 2019 when I retired my wedding planner hat to focus on design – totally and completely. I quickly learned that in order to do things right, I needed some serious education. I’ve gotten hands-on experience with Amy Dunlap, Holly Chapple, Susan Mcleary, Hitomi Gilliam, Ariel Dearie, Mikey Putnam, Naomi Demana, Kelly Perry, and many other designers who are members of the NC State Florists Association and AIFD. My experience has been outstanding. Apart from the obvious, I believe that the true beauty of this business is that I never have to stop learning. nature provides too many options and creativity is endless, so you will never learn it all.
