My approach to photography is straightforward: I like to keep things as natural as possible. I don't have a studio where I shoot because I prefer to observe people in settings that best describe them in the light that is available to me, be it the warm rays of a setting sun or the muted tones of fog. When a client cries after viewing their photographs, I know I have succeeded in capturing the emotion they were feeling at the time. This is the highest compliment anyone has paid me. When it comes to taking portraits, I am of the firm belief that there is no better light than natural light... everyone looks better when the appropriate amount of natural lighting is used. I also think that nature provides the best background for photographs, which is why I try to take as many of them as I can in settings that are pleasant for you and the people you care about. I have embraced what I learned during the film era and have brought it into the world of digital photography... the depth and quality behind it is what I want to bring into a portrait session in order to create something that will last for generations. And in the same way, beginning my career in film has provided me with an original perspective as well as the knowledge of how light, emotion, and composition can come together to create magic in a wedding setting. Despite the fact that I only shoot in digital format at this point, the same fundamental knowledge still applies to my craft today. My career as a very well-rounded and old soul-style craftsmen has been established thanks to the power of digital and the concept of film. My style combines the seasoned quality that comes from being able to love my craft for more than a decade with the youthfulness that comes from continually bringing in a contemporary look and perspective. You can rest assured that I am putting all of my creative energy into each image created, whether it be a fly on the wall moment at a wedding reception or a more composed portrait of a moment in time. I truly love what I do, and it is that feeling that I bring to each image I create.
