Rumphius Flowers

Rumphius Flowers is situated on the North Shore of Massachusetts and in Brooklyn, New York, and is run by Katie Henry. Katie began her career as an apprentice with Saipua in Brooklyn and now travels throughout New England, New York, and beyond, creating wild, natural patterns for one-of-a-kind weddings and celebrations. To the greatest degree possible, we purchase our flowers responsibly and locally, and we compost or give any leftover flower material. A handful of small, beautiful, thoughtful celebrations reminded me that I love making flowers for these types of parties—meaningful celebrations that honor the wild, radical hope of hitching your wagon to someone else's. Working as a wedding florist would be difficult in one element of my life if it weren't for a complex network of people—growers, shippers, wholesalers, and freelancers who help design and put up events. It's impossible to exaggerate the amount of time, effort, and physical labor that so many people put into this sector. It's time to contact your local growers! Working with deeply seasonal flowers is at the heart of my business; it allows me to create designs that acknowledge nature and each couple's unique point in time while also allowing me to do sustainable, creative work.
