The Alaska State Fair Fairgrounds is a 300-acre year-round event complex situated in Palmer, Alaska, in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley about one hour north of Anchorage. Established in 1936 as a local, self-sustaining non-profit corporation, the fairgrounds operate beyond the annual late-summer fair to host private and ticketed events throughout the calendar year, from intimate weddings and graduations to large-scale conventions, horse shows, rodeos, trade shows, concerts, and community celebrations. The fairgrounds encompass a diverse portfolio of indoor and outdoor facilities, including the expansive 20,000-square-foot Raven Hall accommodating up to 1,200 guests, the flexible Event Hall and Don Sheldon Events Center each seating up to 225, the renovated Sluicebox holding up to 500 guests, and the intimate Colony Church and Hoskins buildings for smaller gatherings of up to 150. The lush outdoor Virgil Eckert Garden provides a scenic setting for up to 200 guests, surrounded by Alaskan horticultural beauty with the Chugach Mountains as a backdrop. The grounds feature gated and secured fencing, outdoor electrical power, on-site catering kitchens, Wi-Fi access, and ample dedicated parking. An experienced facility rental team supports event planning across all venue spaces.
