Explore the beauty of the human brain by walking through a neuron (also known as "thinking cells"). This is a rare opportunity to see one of science's greatest mysteries up close. The exhibition Life of a Neuron brings together artists and scientists in a ground-breaking collaboration to investigate how the brain shapes the shared human experience of being alive. Because of a collaborative effort between the Society for Neuroscience and some of the world's most accomplished scientists and artists, this immersive exhibit will allow us to witness the life cycle of a neuron from conception to death, providing an immersive view of life at the cellular level. Life of a Neuron, made possible by decades of neuroscience research and cutting-edge technology, provides us with unprecedented access to experience neurons like we've never seen them before—and in doing so, calls into question our very existence, the universe, and what comes next. It is the fact that this exhibit is the first of its kind to use data of this nature to bring key neuroscience principles into the real world that excites me the most about it. We are able to bring to the world an exhibit unlike any other thanks to the efforts of an incredible group of scientists organized by SfN, who are collaborating with an equally exciting group of artists organized by ARTECHOUSE. This exhibit will feature artistic interpretations of scientific data and principles, allowing the public to experience neuroscience in a completely new way. UC Davis Distinguished Professor, Director of the California National Primate Research Center, Professor in the Department of Neurology, School of Medicine, and Secretary of the Society for Neuroscience John Morrison says, "I hope this exhibit will pique the interest of those who see it and inspire them to learn more about the universe between their ears."
