Ashcroft Ghost Town is a Nationally Registered Historic Site managed by the Aspen Historical Society, set in an alpine meadow at the headwaters of Castle Creek Valley, 11 miles south of Aspen. Silver discovered here in 1880 led to a brief boom; by 1912 fewer than 50 residents remained, leaving behind the restored log cabins and historic structures visitors explore today with the help of interpretive signage and seasonal docents. The site is available for outdoor ceremonies from June through September, accommodating up to 70 guests amid sweeping mountain views and the weathered architecture of Colorado's mining past. Because Ashcroft sits on U.S. Forest Service land within the White River National Forest, the grounds remain open to the public throughout the rental period and are suited to ceremonies only — receptions, tents, tables, chairs, and food service are not permitted on site.
