Set in the heart of the historic district of Beaufort, a coastal North Carolina seaport known as Beaufort-by-the-Sea, the Beaufort Historic Site is a two-acre property owned and operated by the Beaufort Historical Association, a private non-profit founded in 1960. The site encompasses six authentically restored buildings, the Mattie King Davis Art Gallery, and the adjacent Old Burying Grounds, preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of Beaufort and Carteret County. For weddings, receptions, and other celebrations, the site offers a spacious outdoor venue shaded by magnolia trees, with room for classic white tents across the grounds. Couples can also gather inside the Carteret County Courthouse (c. 1796), restored in award-winning detail. Kitchen access is available in adjacent structures, food trucks are permitted on site, and areas for bridal party preparation can be arranged. A signature touch is the site's vintage red English double-decker bus, which carries up to 60 guests on tours of the town and is a popular addition for wedding parties celebrating on the North Carolina coast.
