Blythewood Plantation

Blythewood Event Center & Bed & Breakfast is a historic Greek Revival mansion built in 1885, set on grounds shaded by oak trees and bordered by a camellia garden in Amite, Louisiana. The property was purchased by the Kennedy family in 1970, has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has operated as an event center since 1980 — one of the longest-running private event estates in the region. Inside, guests are welcomed by a grand piano in the main hallway, with a ballroom and intimate dining rooms suited to celebrations from small dinners to full receptions. The surrounding gardens and wraparound porches provide a natural backdrop for outdoor ceremonies and cocktail hours. Blythewood specializes in the "Weekend Wedding," a multi-day format that gives the wedding party and close family exclusive use of the entire mansion from Friday through Sunday, including bed and breakfast accommodations and a full breakfast each morning. The estate accommodates a wide range of gatherings — weddings, vow renewals, showers, birthday parties, reunions, corporate retreats, and celebrations of life — and works with couples and planners to coordinate preferred caterers, entertainment, and event logistics.
