The Victorian mansion was originally built for Louis Marx, an American tobacco and sugar planter, and its interior still features pressed tin ceilings, stained-glass windows, two player pianos, and a Meissen china collection that has remained on the island for generations. The estate hosts weddings, corporate retreats, family reunions, and private events for 20 to 250 guests, with catering arrangements available for larger celebrations. The wraparound porch — with its sky-blue ceiling and panoramic river views — serves smaller cocktail gatherings, while the broad lawns and interconnected reception rooms together accommodate elaborate seated affairs. For groups requiring overnight accommodations, the 13-bedroom main house sleeps up to 28 guests.
