Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose

Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose occupies a striking purple building designed by Mexico City-based architect Ricardo Legorreta at 180 Woz Way in downtown San Jose. The 52,000-square-foot structure houses 28,000 square feet of gallery space featuring more than 150 interactive exhibits spanning science, art, nature, and culture, alongside Bill's Backyard — a half-acre outdoor nature play area that opened in 2017 with climbing structures and dig areas. The museum transforms into a private event venue in the evenings, accommodating gatherings from 50 guests to celebrations of up to 500. Indoor gallery spaces and the outdoor Bill's Backyard area are available for a range of occasions, from corporate events and company celebrations to engagement parties and milestone gatherings. The museum's events coordinator works with groups to tailor the setting to each event. The museum has welcomed more than 9 million visitors since opening in 1990 and has been recognized among the top ten children's museums in the United States by Child magazine.
