CORTEZ hosts birthdays, engagements, graduations, alumni gatherings, after-parties, and other small to large-scale events on a regular basis. We enjoy putting up events! The minimum number of people for an event at CORTEZ is ten. CORTEZ, unlike many other DC venues, does not collect room rental fees. We also don't levy minimum spending depending on the season of year and day/night of the week. CORTEZ is a Mexican restaurant and rooftop bar in Washington, DC's historic Shaw district. CORTEZ has quickly become one of the most popular hospitality locations in our nation's capital, thanks to its Baja-inspired interior restaurant décor, expansive rooftop bar, endless mimosa breakfast (not accessible during winter hours), and several event rooms. We are really passionate about the guest experience and unique cocktails, as well as the most up-to-date design and décor, in order to create a lively atmosphere that you will want to return to! Our "Downstairs Bar" is the ideal gathering spot for larger groups. This space can be used as a semi-private space for many groups or as a private place for one group. Direct access to the bar provides for attentive service, ensuring that your event is a success. "Lower rooftop" + "bar area." This space is ideal for year-round activities because it has direct access to the bar. For smaller groups, the "Lower Rooftop" is ideal. This space is ideal for happy hour or any special event because it has seating and direct bar access. The "Upper Rooftop," a lively, open-air place with one of DC's best views, is a fun, open-air environment. This room can be divided into two sections for gatherings of 30 or fewer people and is also available for private events.
