Eldorado Canyon Ghost Town — known locally as Nelson Ghost Town — is a historic Western landmark set in Eldorado Canyon, Nevada, roughly 45 minutes south of the Las Vegas Strip. The site traces its roots to 1775, when Spanish conquistadors named the canyon for its golden prospects, and to the Techatticup Mine, which opened in 1861 and operated as one of southern Nevada's richest gold mines through 1941. The property today preserves weathered historic structures, vintage vehicles, antique artifacts, and cactus-studded desert terrain — an authentic backdrop that has drawn major film productions and photographers alike. A Wedding Chapel on-site accommodates ceremonies, and a shaded Picnic Area with a grill seats up to 40 guests for receptions, barbecues, and small celebrations. Guided tours of the Techatticup Mine run weekdays at scheduled times, with the grounds open for photography daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
