Forepaugh's Restaurant occupies a meticulously restored Victorian mansion constructed in 1870 by Joseph Forepaugh, a prominent Saint Paul dry goods merchant whose business reached half a million dollars in annual sales by 1864. Set in St. Paul's historic Irvine Park neighborhood, the property passed through several owners over the decades before opening as a restaurant in 1976. Following an extensive restoration that began in 2022, the venue reopened in 2024 with a renewed emphasis on contemporary American fine dining. The mansion's original architectural details — hand-carved woodwork, crystal chandeliers, and period fireplaces — remain intact throughout its dining rooms. For private events, Forepaugh's offers the intimate Limestone Wine Cellar, a third-floor space with panoramic views of downtown Saint Paul, and a terrace suited for outdoor gatherings.
