About Hidden Lake Gardens
Hidden Lake Gardens is a 755-acre botanical garden and arboretum located in Tipton, Michigan's Irish Hills, operated by Michigan State University. Founded in 1926 by businessman Harry Fee, the property was donated to MSU in 1945 and has since expanded through donor support to become one of southeastern Michigan's most-visited natural destinations, drawing 70,000 to 80,000 visitors annually. The gardens encompass 12 miles of hiking trails, a Conservatory housing tropical, arid, and temperate plant collections, a Bonsai Garden, and the Reach for the Sky Canopy Walk standing 65 feet above a glacial kettle-hole forest. A visitors center and gift shop are open Tuesday through Sunday to serve arriving guests. Hidden Lake Gardens offers room rentals and programming on a limited basis, providing a distinctive natural setting for meetings and select gatherings.

- Are pets allowed at Hidden Lake Gardens?
- Well-behaved pets are welcome at Hidden Lake Gardens. Dogs must remain on leashes no longer than six feet, and owners are responsible for waste cleanup. Pets are restricted to paths, lawns, and paved areas and are not permitted in water features or buildings.
- Is photography allowed at Hidden Lake Gardens?
- Photography is permitted and encouraged. Professional photography must be scheduled in advance and is not allowed at the Sky Walk, Conservatory, Visitors Center, or other buildings. Drone use is prohibited per MSU policy.
