The Historic Anchorage Hotel stands at the corner of 4th Avenue and E Street in downtown Anchorage, Alaska — the city's sole surviving historic hotel, operating since 1916 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built as Anchorage's primary gathering place, the hotel was expanded in 1936 with an annex connected by a sky bridge, and was fully restored in 1989 after decades under various owners. Over more than a century, its guest register has included aviators Will Rogers and Wiley Post, artist Sydney Laurence, and explorer Bob Marshall. For private events, the hotel offers 1,800 square feet of dedicated event space across two rooms: a 400-square-foot meeting room well suited to small business meetings and intimate gatherings, and a 1,300-square-foot bar and breakfast area rich with historic character, available for engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, corporate receptions, and social celebrations. Together, the spaces accommodate 10 to 120 guests. Audiovisual equipment, professional catering and bartending services, and on-site event staff are available for all functions.
