Koko Crater Botanical Garden

Koko Crater Botanical Garden is a 60-acre public garden established in 1958 within the sheltered basin of a 200-acre volcanic crater on the eastern side of O'ahu. Managed by the City and County of Honolulu's Department of Parks and Recreation as part of the Honolulu Botanical Gardens system, the garden specializes in rare and endangered dryland plants, cultivating collections from Africa, the Americas, Hawaii, and Pacifica across nine distinct sections organized by region. A two-mile self-guided loop trail winds through the crater's inner slopes, offering an immersive setting unlike any conventional indoor venue. The garden is open daily from sunrise to sunset and admission is free. Wedding ceremonies and permitted gatherings can be arranged through the city's parks department, accommodating up to 30 guests in this distinctive outdoor setting. Commercial photography and group educational programs are also available by permit.
