Lake Toxaway Country Club

Lake Toxaway Country Club carries more than a century of remarkable history into every celebration it hosts. The story of Lake Toxaway itself begins in 1903, when the Toxaway River was dammed to create the lake — drawing a gilded guest list to the original Toxaway Inn that included Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, and the Vanderbilt family. After a series of storms burst the dam in 1916, the lake lay dormant for decades before being lovingly restored in 1960; the country club opened its doors in 1963 and has welcomed guests across the mountain seasons ever since. Today, the club sits within 5,000 acres of western North Carolina mountain landscape, cradled by peaks exceeding 4,700 feet and adjoining more than 10,000 acres of protected wilderness — a setting that earns the journey. The drive is surprisingly easy: about an hour from Asheville, roughly three hours from Atlanta. For events, the club accommodates up to 300 guests across three distinctive spaces: the Vanderbilt Ballroom and Porch, the Firestone Grille and Porch, and the intimate Lake View Room. An in-house team of event planners and culinary professionals handles every detail from menu design to day-of execution, so weddings, rehearsal dinners, anniversary celebrations, reunions, and corporate gatherings unfold against one of the most exceptional mountain lake backdrops in the Southeast. The club's season runs April through November.
