Montclair Wedding Sanctuary

Montclair Wedding Sanctuary occupies a historic Neo-Gothic church in Montclair, New Jersey, designed by architect Bertram Goodhue and dedicated in 1916. Soaring vaulted ceilings, a cathedral-length aisle, intricate stained glass windows, and original oak woodwork give the main Sanctuary one of the more architecturally distinctive ceremony settings in northern New Jersey. The congregation behind it — a ministry of First Congregational Church of Montclair — has championed inclusive values for nearly 150 years, hosting Montclair's first same-gender marriage in October 2013 and explicitly welcoming interfaith, unaffiliated, same-gender, and non-traditional couples. Three spaces serve different moments of the day: the Sanctuary itself, accommodating ceremonies from 25 to 450 or more guests; the Courtyard Garden, an outdoor setting with stonework and a central lawn suited to gatherings of up to 40; and the Guild Room, a high-ceilinged, heavy-beamed reception hall for up to 85 seated or cocktail-style guests. On-site coordinators, ordained officiants, professional musicians, live-streaming, and decor packages are available to support every element of the celebration.
